In addition to routine care we offer advanced corrective procedures and specialist treatments for dental abnormalities. Modern Equine Dentistry
Using state of the art equipment backed with extensive training and CPD to maintain high standards of clinical competence
- External and internal oral examination prior to treatment
- Treatment (appropriate combination of hand and power floats)
- Post treatment Assessment
- Discussion of onward management including bitting if appropriate
- Dental Chart completion with summary and advice
Dentistry Procedures
- Reductions of Sharp Enamel Points (SEPs) which can cause cheek pain and ulceration
- Reduction of Dental Overgrowths e.g. Hooks, Transverse Ridges which can affect the movement of the horses' jaw
- Performance Floating, improving the comfort of the competition horse to achieve optimal performance
- Diastema flushing and widening of diastemas which are painful spaces around the molars.
Veterinary Procedures
- Extraction of Wolf Teeth
- Extraction of loose, displaced or diseased teeth
- Sedation and analgesia (pain relief) provided on-site, by qualified veterinary surgeon.
- Non-routine dental treatments may be covered by your horse's insurance policy.
Referral Facility: Service for veterinary surgeons in equine practice to refer cases or radiographs for second opinion and follow up as necessary. Techniques used for extraction include standing oral extraction, minimally invasive extra-oral repulsion and Minimally Invasive Transbuccal (MIT) extraction.
